Hi Parents and Junior Bowlers… This update is to inform you that 2020 Pepsi Tournament has been officially cancelled.  See email from Anthony Guevara, our district director…

********** start **********

The California USBC Association Board of Directors voted to cancel the 2020 Pepsi Youth Championships due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). We understand that this is late notice, but the CUSBC is concerned for the safety of our tournament directors, the bowlers and their families. Pepsi checks have not been deposited yet so we can easily return them to each center within the week or shred them with permission.  This is an unfortunate situation as we know that this is the last year of youth eligibility for some bowlers and we know they were looking forward to competing.  The CA Youth State Championships to be held at Forest Lanes and the Diddy Watts Youth State Singles Challenge to be held at Rancho Bowl are not cancelled and will be re-evaluated in June. Thank you for your support to our youth events and we hope to see everyone out on the lanes very soon.

OFFICIAL CUSBC STATEMENT (www.CalUSBC.com)

The California USBC Association Board of Directors met this evening to discuss the impact of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the events we have scheduled in the next few months.  Due to the potential negative impact of the virus on our bowlers, workers and attendees, we have made the following decisions:
  1. The Pepsi Youth Championships, both local and state, scheduled to begin March 14, 2020 through May 2, 2020 is cancelled. Refunds will be coordinated with the Pepsi Directors and the participating centers.
  2. The Helen Duval Veteran’s Tournament (BVL) to be held on March 28, 2020, is cancelled and will be rescheduled if possible at a later date.
  3. The Adult (Open & Women’s) State Championships to be held at Forest Lanes, scheduled to begin April 4, 2020 through June 28, 2020 is also cancelled.  Refunds are available to all bowlers.  Please contact Jennie Simpson, Tournament Director.
  4. The CUSBC Annual Meeting and Convention to be held in Fresno, CA scheduled for June 13-14, 2020 will remain scheduled until further notice.
***Personal note: I appreciate each center working with me over the last few months getting the district finals organized and ready. To those of you that were able to volunteer to be lane monitors, I appreciate your willingness. If you, or any one from you center has any question please feel free to reach out to me.
